Episode 1 Recap: A Monster of a Friend

I started this podcast in dedication to my passion and adoration for the 1980s and 1990s. Those of us in the know realize how superior the pop culture was of that time and how much we long for the feeling of nostalgia for those two decades and everything the memories have to offer.

In the first episode I choose one of the toys from my youth in the 80s that I remember so fondly, the plush doll, My Pet Monster. He was blue, furry, big and scary! Well, not scary except for when you got hit by his hard plastic nose!

The My Pet Monster was released in 1986 by American Greetings. The doll had significant popularity with young boys, the demographic it

was marketed to, and soon it was followed by other doll characters, a live action film and a short lived animated series.

The My Pet Monster craze was brief but a ton of fun while it lasted. I think back on him fondly and wish I still had him today, but perhaps with a softer nose.
